The Bernina L 890 is ideal for processing all types of threads and fabrics, especially highly stretchable and knitted fabrics. The Bernina L 890 sews, cuts and finishes everything in a single operation, so that even sewing projects with the most challenging materials can be completed in no time. The machine sews with 2, 3,
4 or 5 threads at the same time and thus ensures the perfect seam for every project. As a combination machine, the Bernina L 890 offers three different functions: overlock stitches, cover stitches and 4-/5-thread combination stitches

The One-step Bernina air threader
The Bernina One-step air threader makes threading the most fun task in the world, because it is so incredibly
easy. Our Swiss technicians have created a masterpiece. The major advantage: when threading the two looper threads, both hands remain free to guide the threads. With just one press of the pedal, the threads are guided through the machine in no time. Fascinatingly fast and simple! The L 890 automatically sets the looper to the correct position for the air threader – you do not need to turn the handwheel or look for the correct position… Just press the pedal and threading continues automatically! 

Total stitch control
The Bernina L 890 is perfect for processing a large variety of fabrics and threads in all kinds of combinations. The machine sews, cuts and finishes everything in a single step, so that even sewing projects with the most challenging
materials can be completed in no time. The Bernina L 890 offers various settings for total stitch control – all individually adjustable. Achieve perfect results quickly with just a few simple steps. With the recommended default settings, beginners can start their project immediately. The experienced user has numerous options to personalize the settings for endless creativity. Using the Micro Thread Control (mtc) button, the amount of looper thread that wraps around the fabric edge,can be adjusted precisely.

Colour touchscreen
You operate the Bernina L 890 easily via the centrally positioned colour touchscreen. Stitch selection, individual stitch settings, stitch properties or memory – the touchscreen shows all information at any desired time and adjustments are also possible while sewing. You have a sewing guide, stitch optimization and help animations for all functions. There are two ways to operate the machine: advanced users can enter all desired settings directly, quickly and individually in expert mode, while beginners in guided mode receive step-by-step instructions for choosing the right stitch, the machine settings and for stitch optimization. In both modes, stitch selection also automatically sets the thread tension, stitch length and differential feed.

Comfortable sewing
The Bernina Free-Hand-System (FHS) has a handy knee lever to lower and raise the presser foot.
As a result, both hands remain free to move the fabric – a major advantage, for example when sewing corners. In addition, the presser foot easily swings out for easy access to the needles.

Extremely fast, precise and quiet
The L 890 has a maximum sewing speed of 1,350 stitches per minute. Using the pedal, you control the motor very precisely – for strong, constant stitch force and precision at every sewing speed. This means you can not only sew quickly, but also slowly stitch by stitch, making sewing both exact straight lines and curves a piece of cake. And all of this runs with the extremely quiet hum of a Bernina. You can even set the maximum and minimum speed via the touchscreen.

Large sewing space
You have 143mm of space to the right of the needle and more working height, which is considerably more than other Bernina overlock machines. You guide the fabric easily and access to the presser foot lift and needles is comfortable and simple. Sew closed parts such as sleeves or cuffs with ease by simply sliding them over the handy free arm. In addition, the large extension table expands the work surface even further, which simplifies sewing large projects. The bright LED lighting ensures an optimal view of the sewing work, both during the day and at night.
