Schmetz Ajour wing needle 100/16

The Schmetz Ajour wing needle 100/16, also called wing, sword or wing needle, is used for decorative decorative stitches, eye embroidery and whitework in loosely woven fabrics such as linen. Sewing creates holes in the seam, which act as a decorative element.This means that ajour stitches can be easily sewn with a sewing machine, even without first pulling out the fabric threads, as is the case with hand sewing.This traditional ajour stitch effect is achieved by the "wings" on both sides of the needle shaft, which gently push the fabric threads aside.The sewing thread supports this effect because it prevents the fabric threads from returning to their original position.The ajour stitch needle has the same thread as any other needle.Please note that the automatic needle threader does not work with the ajour needle.Use the hemstitch needle only in combination with a zigzag stitch plate with an extended stitch hole.Use a satin stitch or zigzag foot as a sewing foot.
